OCTG (OIL COUNTRY TUBULAR GOODS) INSPECTION SERVICES

Defects or irregularities in materials could result in very costly incidents in the oil and gas business. The Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) inspection services are designed to forestall such incidents.

SOWSCO has, at her Elimgbu Pipe Inspection yard, equipment and personnel to carry out quality assurance services on materials such as hoisting equipments, drill pipes, casings, tubings, etc.

VETCOSCOPE ELECTRO MAGNETIC INSPECTION (EMI) UNIT For Pipe Body At Work

SOWSCO’s VETCO-SCOPE Electro Magnetic Inspection unit is a versatile system designed to locate and evaluate transverse and three-dimensional defects on either internal or external surfaces of oil country tubular goods. The system locates and evaluates such defects as corrosion pitting, fatigue cracks, slip cuts, tong marks, etc. Use of an active longitudinal magnetic field ensures maximum sensitivity in conjunction with overlapped induction coil transducers which detect flux leakage created by imperfections in the pipe’s internal or external surfaces. The unit is propelled along the pipe by a pair of rollers mounted on either side of the magnetizing coil.

External and internal cleaning of all seizes of pipes are performed automatically on the pipe cleaning machine. This is essential prior to carrying out any form of inspection on them.

HARD BANDING UNIT

To prolong the useful life of drill pipes, tool joints, collars and other down hole components, abrasion resistant alloys are applied (hard-banded) onto the box end of drill pipes and tool joints using a MIG welding process, bonding the hard-banding alloy with the parent steel of the pipe.
